PUBLISHER's CORNER

First "Excalibur Association" Off and Rolling !

Thanks to YOU, the first International Excalibur Association in history is in operation. The response to our direct mail campaign has been good enough to confirm our initial belief - - an association devoted exclusively to the wants and needs of Excalibur owners is necessary.
Those of you who responded to the brochure have already reinforced our ideas about what types of services will be beneficial. In addition, we already have a valuable array of new ideas.
Before going into some of your ideas and comments, we want to take a moment to reiterate one idea we have: THIS IS YOUR ASSOCIATION. Our goal is to provide a legitimate means of helping everyone associated with Excaliburs obtain the enjoyment, satisfaction and pride that goes with the name EXCALIBUR.
Now, what seems to be interesting to YOU? Almost all of our suggestions solicited a positive response. The group auto insurance has touched off a wave of enthusiasm. Mr. Jerry Sawicki of Toledo, Ohio has suggested that we have a major insurance company do an actuarial study of casualty losses among Excalibur owners. He thinks this might lead
to a favorable result and a possible lowering of insurance premiums. We tend to agree and are currently investigating possibilities. Those of you with insurance backgrounds - - let's hear YOUR thoughts.
A relatively large percentage of you would love to have a miniature Excalibur model to display in your den or office.

We are contacting manufacturersabout the production of a model, and Steve Stevens has confirmed that they would authorize the production of a model. Which one of YOU produces, or knows of someone who produces, miniature auto models?
Just about all of you are interested in getting your hands on some accessories to "dress up" your prized possession! Let us know what you've added to your Excalibur to give it the "personal" touch.
Fewer of you are interested in travel arrangements - - so we've put that idea on hold for a while.
We imagine most everyone wondered if we were just a ' 'fly-by-night" outfit - - and several people did us the favor of writing back and saying so! About an equal number called the Excalibur Corporation and inquired. We plan on existing as long as we can provide a useful, economic purpose.
Dr. Jack E. Arch of Cumberland provided some good thoughts when he said that "...if it (the association) will truly be an exchange of ideas, making available mechanical upgrading of Excaliburs, good manufacturers information, etc., then it will be well worth joining".
Some of you appear to be having problems obtaining parts, service, etc.. This is certainly understandable in view of the complex mechanical structure of the Excalibur, limited distribution and so forth. Again - - we will attempt to set up methods for helping each one of you.
Thanks again to you - - please use the business reply envelope to drop us a letter.

WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER?

If your serial number of your Excalibur is 1000 — congratulations! You're the owner of the first Excalibur built — a series I SSK model two sealer with cycle type fenders. Series I Excaliburs were manufactured in 1965 and 1966. There were 169 Series I SSK models produced. During 1966 through 1969 the 3000 serial numbers were instituted for the Series I Roadster and Phaeton. Sixty Excaliburs were built using this numbering system —the 3000 numbers were discontinued in 1969. Also in 1969 the 6000 serial numbers were introduced on the series I Phaeton.

During 1970, the series II Excaliburs were identified via the six digit numbering system. Under this system, the first two digits designate the year of the Excalibur, and the last three digits show the number produced. The information in the article about Excalibur history, plus this report, should assist you in verifying any Excalibur "By The NUMBER".
