Dear Excalibur Owner:
This letter is an invitation to you and your family to join us for the Fifth Annual Excalibur Owner's Meet. This year the meet will be held on the weekend of August 20-21 right here in Milwaukee. The activities will include a road rally, cocktail party and the Tony Bettenhausen Classic for Indianapolis-type cars.
On Saturday morning, August 20, there will be a road rally, beginning at the Excalibur factory, winding through the Wisconsin countryside and ending at the Brooks Stevens Automotive Museum. Saturday evening, we invite you to be our guests for a cocktail party from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Excalibur factory. At this time, awards will be presented to the winners of the road rally. Also, for those of you who have not visited us before, this will give you an opportunity to see how your Excalibur was built. Sunday morning, August 21, we will meet at the factory for a continental breakfast. We will then leave the factory about 10:30 a.m. and parade to Wisconsin State Fair Park where we will convene in the infield of the race track for the days activities. You will have an opportunity to tour the pit area and view the race cars. Following this, lunch and refreshments will be served and trophies will be awarded for the best Series I, II & III Excaliburs, as well as longest distance traveled, etc. Prior to the race, all Excaliburs and their owners will grid their cars on the starting line for a parade around the race track. After the parade lap, you may attend the race or partake in the activities at the Wisconsin State Fair.
For those of you who are new owners or were not with us last year, when over 70 Excalibur's gathered, it was truly a fun event. This year's activities will prove to be even bigger and better as we are anticipating between 100 to 125 Excaliburs. This year, Excalibur Automobile Corporation will also be the proud presenter of the trophies to the fastest qualifier and winner of the Tony Bettenhausen Classic. We hope you will be able to join us in all of the activities. On the attached sheet is the agenda of activities and a list of places to stay for those of you who will require overnight accommodations. Please make your own reservations. We would appreciate your R.S.V.P. on the enclosed card, as well as your ticket requirements for the race. Please let us hear from you by July 1, and we look forward to seeing you.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Jim,
Just received my plaque and must compliment you on its appearance. I am returning the plate though for a name correction. The "v" in von is a small letter and there are two "n's" in Hoffmann.
I would like the help of the Stevens or the other 6wners of Series II Excaliburs in solving a serious problem. It is with the defroster which blows the air in a very narrow arc onto the windshield instead of diffusing it. As a consequence only a very, very small area is actually cleared for vision. It seems to me that a plastic insert with movable vanes could be constructed that could be placed in each of the two air vents. Can anyone help cure this serious and potentially dangerous problem?
By the way, this is my second Excalibur and I've been driving them since November, 1969. Certainly enjoyed our
chat the other day.

Sincerely,
Bernard von Hoffmann

Dear Mr. von Hoffmann:

Having been an Excalibur owner for several years, I must admit I have never experienced your particular problem, probably because I have never driven in the weather conditions you were driving in. However, I felt you were justified in having an answer so I went to Dave & Steve Stevens with your problem. They are aware that this condition does exist under certain circumstances, and recommend that the best possible solution is to install a heating device which can be plugged into the cigarette lighter or wired directly into the defroster switch. This particular component attaches directly to the windshield above the defroster vents and is not readily visible. The manufacturer is Lucas Electrical Components, and the part should be sold at a good foreign sports car dealer. If, after you have shopped around, you cannot locate the device, let me know and I will obtain it for you (Jim)
