(Sept 2007) Who could help Mark ?
I hope i can solicit some advise. My family has an old
Excalibur (1965 sn 1014). We are going to sell it as it has
not been used much in the past 20 years and has sat in a
barn for the past few years. The car is complete (except no
top) I think... Unfortunately the interior has been damaged
by animals while it was stored. My question is: What is the
best way for me to go, should i have the interior replaced,
spruce it up etc and then sell it, or is it better to sell
it "as is"? I don't want to take the time and money to fix
it up only to have buyers say "i wish it was left as is so i
could restore it the way i wanted to", but conersely, i do
not want to sell it for a low price just because i have not
fixed it up to look decent...... Any advise about how to
sell it, if i should sell it now or restore it, any idea of
relative values, etc, would be appreciated. Thank you
Mark Jones

Maybe you already saw that I added a new section "The Round Table". The Excalibur Round Table is a newsletter written by the Excalibur Association Int. devoted exclusively to Excalibur Owners. I already published the N° 1 and will add more during the next weeks. (Sorry, I know it's long but it takes time to do it) Those additional information are my Christmas gift for all Excalibur Owners. |

Because he could not find an email group on the internet, Gus started excaliburcars on yahoogroups.com. To join, just go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/excaliburcars/ and click the tab to "join this group". The advantage of an email group is you can send 1 email to excaliburcars@yahoogroups.com and every member gets the email. It could be a great source of information, set up meets, meet other excalibur owners, etc.

ATTENTION EXCALIBUR OWNERS AND ENTHUSIASTS
Over the years I have been asked many times by most of you, if there is a book about the history of the Excalibur Automobile, or will one be written? Well we have been approached by Driveline Press about getting one written. They need a guarantee of 1200 copies at a wholesale price of about $20. per copy. This means we need clubs, book stores, auto museums and owners to step up and commit to enough books to make it pay for the publishing. The retail price would be $24.95 per book, it would be about 8” x 10”, have about 250 black and white photos and about 6 to 8 pages in the center with color photos. The cover would also be in color. The book would encompass the history of the car from 1952 to the present day. Camelot Classics will commit to 100 copies, so that leaves 1100 copies that must have a guarantee before they will stat the book. The author will be James Mays who has written an assortment of books on automobiles and their history. So if the interest is indeed real and we can get the funds to break even at 1200 copies it will be done. I will lend as much of the archive as needed to get it done. Please let me know how many copies you or your club wish to commit to and pay for, we need the numbers by mid September. Alice Preston |

From Otto:
" By now the Excalibur excursion to Hall Tyrol (Austria) is history already. I thought I was "bragging" when announcing this trip as an "Excaligigantic event", but the way It worked out, the then chosen wording was rather an understatement. Here are the pictures for a first glance – the story will follow soon in English as well as in German and I am sure that Frederic finds the time between two meetings or business trips for a translation in French. Enjoy and make sure that you are with us on the forthcoming events. " |

One owner asked me to get some information on the 33 phaeton built in 1967. How many are still in "on the road" ?
It's a good idea. Why not creating a list of any excalibur model, any year. Il you are an Excalibur owner, please send me an email with Name, vin number, location, model, year. I would like to publish a list without your name for confidentiality reason. Thanks for your help to create that Excalibur database.
Question: do you know what kind of fluid the hydraulic convertible motor uses ? (see messages)
Last: We know that it's very difficult some times to find some parts. (when Alices doesn't have the part for sale). I would like to add a page with that kind of information. Please, share your parts resellers with everybody ! |

(June 3rd 2003)
June is a special month. Yes, this month the web site ExcaliburAutomobile.com is 2 years old.
Since its creation, the site received more than 45.000 visits. That shows the existing craze for that mark unfortunately disappeared today but also how the happy owners try to do their
best
for the sake of "Keeping the legend alive and the famous cars on the
road" (Otto) Some of you asked me why I created that web site. When I became an Excalibur owner in 99 (the on on the right and top), I started to search on the web information, parts and how to contact other owners. But what disillusion! Nothing! No web site dedicated to Excalibur. For that raisons I decided to create that site, for everybody who loves Excalibur.
I have two requests: If you have documents that are not yet published on the site, please send me a copy for publishing. Also, if you are an Excalibur owner, please send me a picture of your car.
For that new year, a Dutch version will be online soon !!!
One more time, a big thank to all of you who share the same passion and who keep the site alive.
I would like to wish to all of the Excalibur meeting participants a very nice week-end at Milwaukee. Unfortunately I won't be able to be with you. So please, if you take some pictures, send some to me for publishing. Thanks a lot. |

I'm still looking for more space to store information. The 100Mo of storage I pay for are all used. (I already used some Mo of my wife's web site but please, don't tell her J). That the reason why I'm not able to add information. If somebody has a solution, please tell me !!!
Don't forget to read the messages.

If you participate at the meeting at Milwaukee and if you take some pictures, feel free to send them to me. Thanks |

(November 19th 2002)
Alice had a good idea. This is her message : "This is a survey to see how many would be interested in attending a 40th Anniversary celebration for the Excalibur Automobile. (Conceived in June of 1963) It would coincide with Brooks Stevens’ 92nd birthday (6-7-2003) as well as the opening of the Brooks Stevens Exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Would there be an interest in a reunion of Excalibur owners, employees, dealers and admirers? Due to the fact that the company used to sponsor those events and is no longer in business, there would be a fee involved. If there is enough interest for an event we hope to offer a reunion with old owners and the employees that built your car. We would need to have confirmation by the end of January of 2003 and deposits by the end of February 2003. Please check things you might be interested in. Would you want to see a 2-day event? Sat and Sun. June 7th & 8th 2003 Tour the Art Museum & exhibit of things designed by Brooks Stevens Have a reunion dinner with old photos of past Excalibur meets, with David Stevens and Steve Stevens the owners of the original company Have a Parade of Excalibur’s to kick off the exhibit Have a cook out meet with people involved in the production of your cars."
If you are interested to come, please send a mail. Hope to meet you in June !!! |

In last July, I made a pilgrimage. Where ? ! At Milwaukee, of course, cradle of Excalibur (and also of Harley Davidson). During that trip, I met two important people: one person who worked with Brooks Stevens during several years, Alice Preston, and the curator of the Brooks Stevens Exhibition that takes place next year during the summer at the Milwaukee Art Museum, Glenn Adamson.
During several hours, I had the opportunity to talk with Alice, you should already know her if you looked for parts. I spent with her a great moment. She's a great and friendly person and has lot of souvenirs and anecdote on Brooks and Excaliburs. She owns an incredible number of documents, pictures, ... She agreed to lend some items of her tresor for publishing (that's what I'm doing but that takes time). Alice, thanks again for that great day, for your welcome and your help!
New on the web site : - some owners - 2 comics with an excalibur (goto unusual) - The Series IV as you never saw (-> documents/Series IV) - documents (-> documents/doc-Ad)
Soon, some superb pictures of the factory in activity! and some pictures of a copy of Excalibur (I already hear some bad people saying: "What ? A copy of a copy ?")

(June 1st) Today, It's a special day. Yes, the web site ExcaliburAutomobile.com is 1 year old.
Since its creation, the site received more than 20.000 visits. That shows the existing craze for that mark unfortunately disappeared today but also how the happy owners try to do their

If you would like to receive it, nothing less simple, you send me your email address and let me know if you prefer the english or french version.
Other request, Alice Preston (http://www.excaliburclassics.com), who could provide you any Excalibur parts, will try to get some Excalibur scripts made (the Excalibur logo in front of any excalibur car on the radiator grid) . Before that, she needs to know how many people could be interested by a new script (price $85). If you are, please send me a email. |

Feel free to use it, it's free. But the end of this year is coming and Christmas knock at our door. That why I decided to make a "present" to the Excalibur addicts. A video I found on "The Auto Channel". (Thanks to them). 15mn on Excalibur. To watch it, just click on "The symbol of success" So, have a great time watching that video and I want to wish you a merry Christmas and an happy new year
|
||
|
(September 2001) After a little more that three months, you were numerous to consult the site. As soon as I find a document, object or photograph referring to the Excalibur mark, I try to acquire it to publish it. Some times, one sends documents to me, like Patrice and Bill, which makes it possible to fill out the site. But alone, it is not easy then I call your assistance. If you have anything referring to the mark, please, send it to me, by mail or email so that I can publish it. Recently I introduced a new heading on the saga Excalibur. You will find there several publications very interesting on the various models of the mark. A heading "messages" was also added, so, if you
have questions, information or remarqs to share, go on !. |

|
(June 2001) Sine we have bought in December 1999 an Excalibur Phaeton III, my wife and myself have fallen in love with our car. As any enthusiast, we try to share our infatuation for that brand unfortunately today disappeared. We searched for Excalibur clubs in France or Europe without success. Therefore, we decided to create a club or association that regroups the excalibur owners eager to share their passion, information or advices.
